Utah football staff to hold annual coaching clinic on March 28-29

SALT LAKE CITY—The Utah football staff will host its annual coaches’ clinic for high school coaches and others interested in learning more about coaching on Friday, March 28 from 5-9 p.m. at the Spence & Cleone Eccles Football Center.

The clinic kicks off with a dinner at 5 p.m., followed by breakout sessions and instructional “chalk talks” by Utah’s coaching staff and featured guest speakers. Attendees will also be invited to observe Utah’s football practice from the sidelines at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, March 29 at 9:30 a.m.

Guest speakers include former Utah players Steve Smith, a five-time Pro Bowl receiver who now plays for the Baltimore Ravens; Tony Bergstrom, an offensive guard for the Oakland Raiders; Luther Elliss, a two-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman and a first-round draft choice of the Detroit Lions; and John Pease, who has 48 years of NFL and college coaching experience. Other featured guest speakers are Ron McBride, Utah’s head coach from 1990-2002, and Dave Peck, head coach of 5A Utah state champion Bingham High School.

The registration fee for the clinic is $35. On-site registration the day of the clinic begins at 4 p.m. at the Eccles Football Center on 580 S. Guardsman Way in Salt Lake City.
