Drama on Signing Day

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said this year’s National Signing Day was kind of like “reality TV.”
It even hit home hours after his press conference.
Many players, like Ute recruit Ryan Henderson who de-committed and signed with USC, didn’t make their decisions known until late in the day with television cameras rolling.
Such plans keep many coaches and potential signees on hold to fill openings, altering the way things traditionally operate. Most recruits across the nation fax their letters-of-intent to football offices first thing in the morning.
‘There’s a lot of drama involved,” Whittingham said. “It seems like there’s more coverage each and every year with TV and the internet streaming and the radio and that type of thing.”
In some ways, he added, it almost rivals the NFL Draft.
Better yet, “Jersey Shore” or “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
