Friday's practice report
The Utes spent a hour practicing in helmets and shorts at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
“It was a good learning day and good focus, good concentration – just polishing up what we have,” said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, who added that nobody got hurt and that “The Pit” is thinning down.
After the workout, the Utes went through game-day procedures such as warm-up locations and how they’ll enter and depart the locker room. Other things included where the position groups will meet during games on the sidelines.
“We do this every year. It’s a way to get the new guys up to speed that have never been through a game-day procedure and also a refresher for the older guys that haven’t done it for seven, eight months,” Whittingham said. “It is something you need to do and make sure things run smoothly. Last thing you want is an issue to come up on game day.”
Utah opens the season Thursday at home against Pittsburgh.
