Utes get through typical tough Tuesday practice

Coach Kyle Whittingham called it a typical tough Tuesday practice, although the players didn’t have to run gassers afterward like they do during the season on Tuesdays.
In the half hour the media was allowed to watch, two plays stood out. DeVonte Christopher made a spectacular one-handed catch that drew oohs from his teammates as well as the media on the sideline.
Then later, Jordan Wynn threw a poor screen pass that was picked off by Conroy Black for what would have been an easy score the other way. When asked about it, Whittingham said, “Jordan missed a few throws, but he’ll bounce back.”
Whittingham said no new players went to the injury pit, Tuesday but he was happy that freshman tackle Kapua Sai was back out of the pit. The 6-foot-5, 307-pound Sai is listed on the two-deep depth chart as the backup to junior Tony Bergstrom.
“He’s a freshman we think has a lot of promise,” Whittingham said. “We’ve missed him.”
