Football camp: Day 11 (Scrimmage #2)

Aside from a few very untimely penalties and some turnovers they need to eliminate, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham was fairly pleased with the Utes in Tuesday’s scrimmage at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
“It was great effort and we cut down on the mental mistakes,” he said. “And so it was a good work day.”
OFFENSE: Terrance Cain completed 16-of-22 passes for 139 yards. He threw two touchdown passes and was intercepted once. Jordan Wynn was 10-of-15 for 119 yards and a score. Tauni Vakapuna and Eddie Wide led the ground game with 52 and 48 yards, respectively. Sixteen different players caught passes in the situational scrimmage. DeVonte Christopher caught the most (3), while Matt Asiata, Dallin Rogers and Kenneth Scott had touchdown receptions.
DEFENSE: Greg Bird picked off a pass and returned a fumble 21 yards for a touchdown. Christian Cox and Tyson Buck were credited with forced fumbles and Chad Manis had a recovery. Trevor Reilly netted the scrimmage’s only sack. Five players contributed on tackles-for-loss and three had pass breakups.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Nick Marsh made three field goals and Joe Phillips connected on two. Latu Heimuli blocked a kick.
