Football camp: Day 9

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said Saturday morning’s practice at Ute Field was “a good end to the week.” The Utes, he explained, got some situational things taken care of and there was good competition throughout the session.
When asked about any individual standouts, Whittingham opted to recognize the entire team for an “overall good effort.”
On the injury front, Whittingham noted that “The Pit” was far less populated. Even so, it did include a pair of projected starters in linebacker J.J. WIlliams (foot) and left tackle John Cullen (knee). WIlliams was wearing a boot and hopping around on crutches at practice. Whittingham said WIlliams’ left foot is sprained and not broken. The junior is expected to be out for at least another week. Cullen, meanwhile, could be back as earlier as Monday.
