Football camp: Day 8 (AM)

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said there were “no standouts” in Friday morning’s practice at Rice-Eccles Stadium. He added that it was “just a good work day.”
Whittingham’s post-practice remarks also included a review of Thursday’s scrimmage. After analyzing the film, he said there was “a lot of very good execution by the offense and missed tackles by the defense.”
The defense, in fact, missed 18 tackles in the situational scrimmage – three times greater than the usual norm.
In other news, Whittingham said that Shaky Smithson is in the top spot to return punts and kickoffs. He’ll share the latter with Jereme Brooks. Reggie Dunn and Luke Matthews are also getting looks on kickoff returns and Griff McNabb is No. 2 on punts.
The Utes will practice again late this afternoon, this time at the baseball field.
