Future football scheduling

Utah athletics director Chris Hill is scheduled to meet with Pac-10 officials in the Los Angeles area over the next couple of days, possibly shedding light on future football schedules for the Utes. Everything is pretty much on hold until is determined if the expanded Pac-12 will require eight or nine conference games.
Meanwhile, the Des Moines Register is reporting that Iowa State is looking at dropping or moving its scheduled 2011 trip to Rice-Eccles Stadium because the Big 12 will play a nine-game league schedule after Colorado and Nebraska depart. Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads told the newspaper it would be an “easy transition” to move or drop the game if both teams are moving into nine-game conference situations.
Earlier in the day — on the rivalry front — Hill said he was “confident” that something would be arranged to keep the Utah-BYU series uninterrupted despite the Utes’ impending conference switch.
Stay tuned.
