Preseason all-conference candidates

Utah’s final Mountain West Conference football season gets off to a start of sorts next week in Las Vegas. The Utes will be represented by head coach Kyle Whittingham, offensive lineman Zane Taylor and defensive back Brandon Burton at the league’s media days July 27-28 at the Red Rock Resort & Spa.
The annual media poll and preseason all-conference team will be released at the gathering.
Utah candidates listed by the MWC include: Taylor, Burton, running back Matt Asiata, running back Eddie Wide, wide receiver Jereme Brooks, offensive lineman Caleb Schlauderaff, offensive lineman Zane Taylor, quarterback Jordan Wynn, defensive lineman Dave Kruger, defensive lineman Derrick Shelby, defensive lineman Sealver Siliga, kicker Joe Phillips and punter Sean Sellwood.
Three Utes are also listed as player of the year candidates: Wide (offense), Burton (defense) and Phillips (special teams).
