California linebacker chooses Utah

Jared Norris, a 6-foot-2, 228-pound senior-to-be from Centennial High School in Bakersfield, Calif., has given the University of Utah an early recruiting commitment. THe middle linebacker plans to sign with the Utes in 2011.
“It’s like a family atmosphere,” Norris said while noting he felt really comfortable with the coaching staff and players.
Norris, who made 110 tackles as a junior, made an unofficial trip to the Utah campus with his family and attended last month’s Red & White Game at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Known for his athleticism and speed, Norris drew strong interest from the likes of Oregon State, Arizona, Colorado State, San Diego State, Boise State and New Mexico State.
