Boylen excited for BYU game
For the first time since November, coach Jim Boylen was able to address the media at his weekly press conference after a pair of wins the week before.
Boylen said he was “jacked up” and “excited” after beating Air Force and Wyoming and having BYU coming to the Huntsman Center Wednesday night.
He called the 24 points by Shawn Glover (10) Chris Hines (7) and Jason Washburn (7) “a foreshadowing of where we’re going and what we have.”
In comparing his team to the last time it played BYU he said, “we’re more confident, we’re healthy and a little more experienced. We’ve learned a lot since that game.”
On what Utah has to do to beat BYU, he said, “You always have to defend the 3 — they make over 8 a game — you have to defend them in transition, try to slow them down because their running game is as good as anybody’s.”
On Jay Watkins, who has been smacked in the head two games in a row, getting stitches above his eye at Air Force and leaving with a bloody face against Wyoming, he said, “He’s still recovering from some concussion symptoms, but he’ll be ready to play.”
