Basketball team makes it back to SLC

Well, the Utah basketball team got lucky and got out on one of the few flights that made it out of DFW airport today.
I got a call from Jon Dykema, Utah’s director of basketball operations and he said after a two-hour delay on the tarmac, their flight got off and landed in Salt Lake about 6:30 tonight. The team immediately practiced and will have another short practice Friday afternoon.
“We were very fortunate,” said Dykema, who noted that the American flights before and after the Utes’ flight were both cancelled.
Unfortunately for me and Jimmy Soto, the Utes’ radio color man, all three Delta flights were cancelled today. I’m booked on an afternoon flight Friday, but Soto can’t leave until Saturday.
Meanwhile, it’s still snowing here in Fort Worth as it has been all day.
