U. fans shouldn't worry if older players aren't playing

The Utah basketball team appears to be on a roll now with three straight wins under its belt, including Saturday’s 20-point victory over TCU in the MWC opener.
While the Utes would rather have senior Kim TIllie playing, they are finding they can get it done with other players. Coach Jim Boylen seems to be shrinking his rotation as the season goes along and he used eight players for at least 13 minutes before clearing the bench for the final two minutes.
I’ve heard some fans criticize Boylen’s recruiting and the fact that players such as Jordan Cyphers and Chris Hines from his first recruiting class and JC transfer Matt Read from this year’s class, aren’t seeing major minutes.
The fact is, other, younger players are better, so Boylen is playing them. For example, true freshman Marshall Henderson has turned out to be better than Cyphers and Hines, so he’s playing ahead of them. Read played quite a bit in the early games, but another true freshman, Shawn Glover, is playing well and taking his minutes.
So I wouldn’t worry that Cyphers, Hines and Read aren’t playing. There are only so many minutes available and if the freshmen are playing better, fans should be happy. The younger guys will be that much better because of their early experience.
