Watkins will miss LSU game

The Utah basketball team has struggled all year to be at full strength and won’t be again for tonight’s game against LSU.
Jay Watkins will not play due to a medical emergency with his step-father. Watkins left the team soon after arriving in Baton Rouge and went to his hometown of Memphis to be with his family. The Utes preferred not to give details of the emergency, but coach Jim Boylen released the following statement:
“Jay Watkins has temporarily left our team due to a medical emergency in his family. We are unsure when he will return but we will continue to give our utmost support to him and his family through this difficult time.”
Watkins has already missed six games this season due to injuries.
The Utes are expected to have Carlon Brown available. He missed practice Thursday after having a procedure on his right foot, but did practice Friday.
