Injury update: Eliapo out
Senior nose tackle Kenape Eliapo, who started the first six games of the season, will not play Saturday at TCU and may miss the rest of the season with an undisclosed illness.
“Right now there’s not a lot of concrete to go on,” said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. “They’re still running tests and that type of thing.”
Eliapo has missed two of the past three games because of an eye ailment.
Whittingham said it’s inter-related to several things and that no exact determination has been made.
In other injury news, linebacker Matt Martinez has a strained quad and will be out 2-3 weeks.
The Utes are otherwise pretty healthy.
“Everything from the game on Saturday night is minor, nothing that will cause anybody to miss this week’s game,” Whittingham said.
That, apparently, includes wide receiver David Reed, who injured his hand in the win over New Mexico.
