Another injury update, sort of

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham reiterated that he’ll only discuss injuries on Monday from now on. After Tuesday’s practice at the indoor facility, however, he was asked about Matt Asiata’s situation by a television cameraman.
“We’re hoping for the best,” Whittingham said after reminding the media about his new policy.
The status of reserve running back Sausan Shakerin is also unknown. His left wrist and hand were wrapped in a soft cast Tuesday, an injury he suffered at the end of his 46-yard run against San Jose State.

After missing all three of his field-goal attempts on Saturday, kicker Ben Vroman was replaced by backup Joe Phillips. The two have also swapped spots on the depth chart.
“Joe’s taking the kicks with the ones right now. He’s doing a very good job,” Whittingham said. “It won’t be completely decided until after Thursday’s practice, but right now it’s Joe No. 1 and Ben No. 2 placekicking wise.”
Vroman, he added, will continue to handle kickoffs regardless of what happens.
