Options on the offensive line
Thursday’s practice featured a lot of movement on the offensive line. WIth projected starting guards Caleb Schlauderaff and Walter Watts sidelined with knee injuries and questionable for next week’s game against Utah State, the Utes are checking out their options.
Junior Daniel Bukarau took reps with the No. 1 offense and defensive tackle J.T. Tofaeono, a true freshman, has been moved to offensive guard to add depth to the position.
Until the injury situation clears up, Whittingham said the staff will try out all combinations.
“We miss the continuity right now not having Walter and Caleb,” he explained. “That’s something that, obviously, we wish we were able to do. But you’ve got to make due with what you’ve got.”
If the game were today, Whittingham said the starting offensive line would likely include Zane Beadles, Zane Taylor, Tony Bergstrom, Tevita Stevens and Tyler Williams or Bukarau.
