Final scrimmage: Misi update
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham offered a little more insight on injured defensive end Koa Misi’s future after Saturday’s camp-ending scrimmage at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Whittingham said that Misi is questionable for the Utah State game on Sept. 3 and probable for the San Jose State game on Sept. 12.
“That’s probably as accurate as I can be at this point,” Whittingham told reporters. “. . . I’m just going by what I’m told by the medical staff. So we’ll see what happens.”
The bottom line, however, is optimism.
“We’re just hoping for the best,” Whittingham said.
As for the scrimmage, Whittingham called it a “good work day” that was cleaner than either of the two previous outings. There were fewer penalties, he explained, and a lot less mental errors.
Many projected starters were held out of the scrimmage and participated only in two-minute drills.
Starting quarterback candidates Jordan Wynn and Terrance Cain took equal reps with the first offense.
