Defensive end James Aiono, who earned All-America honors at Snow College before signing a letter-of-intent with the Utes, won’t be with the team in fall camp. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman will be finishing up some academic work instead and plans to enroll at the U. in January. Despite the delayed entry, he’ll still have two years of eligibility remaining.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham also confirmed that three other 2009 recruits — defensive end Eric Dago, defensive back Maxwell Lacy and wide receiver Ray Magee — are also completing academic requirements. The trio are considered “day-to-day” as camp approaches.
