Ute basketball team gets commitment

The Utah basketball team has received a commitment for the 2010-11 season from guard Preston Guiot of Bolivar, Mo.
The 5-11, 175-pound Guiot is the son of Southwest Baptist coach Jeff Guiot, whose team knocked off Utah in last year’s season opener at the Huntsman Center. He was a second-team all-state selection for Bolivar High School, where he averaged 24.8 points, 4.7 assists and 3.3 steals per game.
Last week, Guiot was on hand for Utah’s Elite Basketball camp, but sat out most of the time with an foot injury.
His shooting numbers for last year aren’t exactly stellar — 37.4 percent overall and 31.2 percent from 3-point range, as well as 77 percent from the free throw line. He is known as a very quick guard and a good leader.
