Utah basketball starting to get national attention

For the first time in four seasons, the Utah basketball program is getting some national attention.
Utah’s six-game winning streak and 12-wins-in-14-games stretch has put the Utes in the national spotlight. The Utes’ strong non-conference schedule has helped put the Utes at No. 11 with the 16th-strongest schedule in RPI rankings.
Utah coach Jim Boylen has often said one of the reasons he wanted to coach at Utah was because of the great tradition. He said in the past week, he’s done interviews with the likes of USA Today, Fox Sports and Rivals.com. RIght after Monday’s weekly press conference, Boylen had a live interview with ESPN’s Andy Katz. He said he believes a lot of media folks are happy to see Utah getting back on the national scene.
“We have a national program,” Boylen said. “We have great tradition. They’re kind of excited to see Utah rising again because of the tradition we’ve had in the past. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve felt that. We’ve played good basketball and we’ve earned it.”
