Utes looking good in mock brackets

A lot of experts have made the Utah basketball team a virtual lock for the NCAA Tournament with seeds ranging from No. 5 to No. 8.
In the third annual NCAA Tournament Mock Selection by college basketball analysts and experts last week in Indianapolis, the Utes came out looking pretty good.
Two different groups acted like the NCAA committee for several hours and came up with brackets. In the first, the Utes were made a No. 5 seed playing Boston College in the Boise subregional. In the second, the Utes were put in as a No. 6 seed playing Arizona in Miami.
In the latest brackets on ESPN and CBS Sportsline, the Utes were listed as No. 8 seeds, playing Virginia Tech in Kansas City in the former and Tennessee in Philadelphia in the other.
The view from here is that the Utes are in the tournament if they can win three of their last five regular-season games. With tough road games at BYU and New Mexico still on the schedule, the Utes had better not let Wednesday night’s game at Colorado State get away from them.
