BYU win gets monkey off Boylen's back.

Utah’s thrilling overtime win over BYU was big for a lot of reasons, including ending a four-game losing streak against the Cougars and keeping the Utes in the Mountain West Conference race. In fact for a day, anyway, the Utes are tied for first in the MWC at 4-2.
But the person who has to be the happiest is Ute coach Jim Boylen.
Boylen said he’s been reminded of the BYU rivalry everywhere he goes, whether it’s the grocery store or gas station or wherever.
“Now maybe I don’t have to answer about BYU, which I’ve done for 18 months,” he said. “It’s a home win in our league against a quality team, which is very important.”
A couple of more notes on the game:
— On the Utah’s play at the end of regulation when Luka Drca took an off-balance shot in the lane with six seconds left, Boylen said, “Drca shot the ball a little early. I told him to drive the ball at six and shoot it at two, but he drove it at nine and shot it at six. That happens. We got a break there.”
— Turnovers nearly killed the Utes again. They rank near the bottom of the NCAA stats in turnover margin and they had 15 to 9 for BYU. Lawrence Borha in particular, struggled with six turnovers, including three in the final five minutes of regulation, while Drca and Kim Tillie each had three.
— This was the first overtime game in the series since the 1991 BYU win 51-49. Utah is now 11-4 all-time in overtime wins vs. BYU.
