Roderick simply changed his mind
Aaron Roderick acknowledged he accepted a promotion from receivers coach to co-offensive coordinator at Utah, but wound up changing his mind hours later and took a job at Washington instead.
“I am not leaving because of the co-coodinator situation. I’m not leaving because of a falling out with anyone in the program and I’m not leaving because of money,” Roderick said Monday night. “It’s a combination of things that are unique to me and my family situation, where I just feel like this is the right time for us to go start something new.”
Roderick admitted he went back-and-forth with his decision over the weekend and has apologized for the confusion.
The University of Utah issued two press releases — one announcing that Roderick and Dave Schramm would be co-coordinators and a later one just naming Schramm to the position.
“I love it here. I love Utah. Coach Whittingham has been great to me,” said Roderick. “Dave Schramm is a great friend and I know he’s going to do a great job.”
Roderick also spoke with Bill Riley on KALL, 700AM. Their conversation can be heard on the radio station’s Web site.
