On the road to New Orleans: Part III
The third leg of the trip resulted in more added time to the trip duration. It all started when the newest bus driver had a hard time finding the correct freeway to lead us out of Dallas. A short tour through a questionable neighborhood and exiting and reentering the freeway in the other direction two different times made it clear we were lost. Once we finally had the bus directed southeast, we were able to get on our way.
Upon entering Louisiana, the bus erupted in cheers. It was then, however, that we again realized it was still a five-hour ride from New Orleans. The bus was still in high spirits due to encouragement from local LSU fans at our latest bathroom break.
We finished up the trip by driving through Louisiana via the surface streets, rather than the interstates, and were able to catch a glimpse of life in the South.
Pulling into the Big Easy ignited even more, and louder, Utah cheers.
The bus trip from &8@$%, as it has been nicknamed during the 35-hour drive, is now over. It was fun, but we’re all glad to finally be here. Go Utes!
