Gotta say it

Not much has been said the Fiesta Bowl’s decision to snub undefeated BCS-outsiders Utah and Boise State in favor of two-loss and lower rated Ohio State.
Perhaps it’s time.
What the Fiesta Bowl opted to do is shameful. It was a slam to the Utes and Broncos and all who follow them. Our western neighbors made it perfectly clear — we had you over to our house once, now leave us alone.
For the record, they are wonderful hosts. They even spoil the media.
However, their recent actions sent quite a message.
If Tostitos ever decides to throw its sponsorship dollars elsewhere, perhaps the Buckeyes could step up and carry the financial banner for the game — apparently they already do so.
TV ratings rule the roost and OSU brings ‘em in.
Too bad it won’t help Texas much. The Longhorns are in a no-win situation. They should beat a team that USC and Penn State handled.
A win over an unbeaten Utah or Boise State team, if nothing else, would qualify as some sort of accomplishment.
It remains to be seen if America agrees. The Fiesta Bowl matchup isn’t all that exciting with a two-loss and No. 10 team in the mix.
The Fiesta Bowl organization’s Insight Bowl is also a bit of a stinker with two 7-5 squads (Kansas and Minnesota) squaring off.
Seems like a good year to avoid travel to Arizona. The Fiesta Bowl guys are getting exactly what they deserve this time around. Doing the right thing got lost in the shuffle.
As for the BCS, perhaps its time to expand the party if a playoff is never going to materialize. If groups like the Fiesta Bowl continue to ignore supportive, undefeated alternatives to Ohio State, why not include the Cotton and Holiday bowls in the mix? Then open the doors to others.
Perhaps, then, the Fiesta Bowl would do the right thing and roll out the welcome mat to their neighbors once again.
