Why the Utes didn't practice Monday
One of the first questions Utah coach Kyle Whittingham fielded at his weekly press conference was why the Utes weren’t practicing on Monday.
The answer?
“We haven’t practiced for the last four or five Mondays after Saturday games,” Whittingham said while noting that they did last week because it followed a Thursday game. “That’s just kind of our m.o. … about midseason that starts to kick in.
“The wear and tear of a season, particularly when it’s 12 weeks long — 13 weeks with a bye — (means) you’ve got to make sure you don’t wear your guys out,” Whittingham explained. “So that’s been how we’ve handled things.”
Speaking of handling things, the Utes will slow the flow of information this week. All practices will be closed to the media. Interviews, unless you’re Jim Rome, will be restricted after Wednesday.
