Rivalry Week is here
SAN DIEGO — After leading the Utes to a 63-14 win over San Diego State, Brian Johnson had a little fun with a television reporter before leaving the field at Qualcomm Stadium.
When asked if he looked to see who was next on Utah’s schedule, Johnson was a little coy.
“I haven’t,” he said. “It might be a big game, though.”
Johnson then let on . . . a little bit.
“It could be a big one,” he continued. “We’ll see what happens.”
When pressed even more, Johnson got serious.
“We will be ready to play,” he said.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham told reporters the team will get back to work on Monday.
In the meantime . . .
“We get to enjoy this,” Johnson said after the Utes clinched a share of the Mountain West Conference title for the first time since 2004. “We’ll have a great plane ride home.”
