Eliapo's return will bolster defensive line
Heading into Saturday night’s game against New Mexico, the Utah football team may be as healthy as it has been since the season opener.
After practice Monday, coach Kyle Whittingham said that several players who have been out for awhile, could be returning this week or at least by next week.
The biggest, literally, is defensive tackle Kenape Eliapo, who has been out since breaking his foot in the opening game against Michigan.
Whittingham said tight end Neli A’asa, who has missed two weeks with a “stinger” is back and backup linebacker Kepa Gaison, who has been out with a knee injury, may be back,
The Ute coach said he’ll use five defensive tackles with Greg Newman getting the most reps, followed by Eliapo, Derrick Shelby, Sealver Siliaga and Aaron Tonga.
