BB team gets a week off before first official practice

The Utah basketball team held its final “unofficial” practice Wednesday prior to the start of real practice a week from Friday.
The Utes went for a little over an hour at the Huntsman Center and spent a lot of time on their transition game and getting the ball out quickly after a made basket or a rebound. In talking to a couple of players, that is going to be a point of emphasis, putting a little more “run” into the Runnin’ Utes.
Until Oct. 17, college teams are allowed to practice for two hours a week as a group, aside from individual workouts and weight-training. The reason for the long break for the Utes is that school is on fall break next week, so several players are going home for a few days before returning next Wednesday.
Coach Jim Boylen and Luke Nevill will represent the U. at the MWC Media Day next Tuesday in Las Vegas. The Utes are planning another Friday Night Hoops open to the public on the 17th.
