U. FB practice schedule upheaval

The Utes held their Tuesday-Wednesday practice Monday. They’ll hold their Wednesday-Thursday practice Tuesday and their Thursday-Friday practice Wednesday.
Say what?
It’s just the way it is when the Utes have a short-week schedule as they do before Thursday night’s game against Oregon State.
Coach Kyle Whittingham explained how the Utes practice schedule is “compressed” on short week like this one.
He said he doesn’t mind playing a Thursday night game, as the Utes have done several times in recent years, but he is unhappy with the unfairness of this week’s situation with the Beavers getting an extra two days to prepare.
“I don’t like it when one team has five days to prepare and another has seven days,” he said. “I don’t like that at all.”
After Monday’s practice, I needed to talk to just one person besides Whittingham for my Tuesday story — offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig. However, Ludwig said “no” when asked by the U. sports information office for an interview and kept running. When you have to prepare for a Wednesday-Thursday practice on Tuesday, I guess you can’t spare an extra three minutes.
