Ready to go

Wednesday’s practice was Utah’s last with pads on before Saturday’s opener at Michigan. The truck carrying the Utes’ equipment to Ann Arbor has already embarked on its 29-hour journey.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham outlined the team’s final preparations. Thursday will be devoted to polishing things up and Friday’s travel day will include a walk-through at Michigan Stadium as soon as they arrive.
“I think we’re on track,” Whittingham said. “It was a good practice today.”
Things did get a little chippy, however, but he chalked it up to being “time to line up against somebody else.”
EXTRA POINTS: Whittingham said that running backs Darrell Mack and Matt Asiata are both 100 percent healthy and ready to go . . . Senior defensive tackle Aaron Tonga had another strong practice and will definitely play Saturday. He suffered an MCL strain early in camp . . . Tight end Neli A’asa, a Michigan native, is also good to go — successfully recovering from a knee scope earlier in camp.
