Michigan may use two QBs in opener

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez hasn’t named a starting quarterback for Saturday’s season opener against the Utes.
In Tuesday’s Big Ten teleconference, the new boss of the Wolverines noted that they might use two — freshman Steven Threet and sophomore Nick Sheridan.
“Our goal with them is hopefully they’re both ready to play and we can play them both,” Rodriguez said.
Their skill sets are similar, he said, while noting that Sheridan might run a little better. At 6-foot-6, Threet has a height advantage.
“We want guys to execute the system — not make the big turnover,” Rodriguez said. “They’re in their first year in the system so everything is going to happen to them faster than it will as the season goes around.”
