Key still missing
When asked if there was any change in the Aiona Key situation, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said “unfortunately no.” The highly touted receiver is still waiting for his final junior college grade to be posted.
“We’ve just kind of put that on the backburner. We don’t even think about that at this point,” Whittingham said after Tuesday’s practice. “We’re just trying to control what we can control.”
Though there’s no deadline set for Key’s arrival — Whittingham said as soon as he joins the team the coaching staff will bring him along and teach him the offense — school could become an issue “very rapidly.” Classes began Monday.
For obvious reasons, even if Key were to join the Utes in the next day or so, Whittingham acknowledged he won’t be a factor Saturday in Michigan.
At this point, they would just like to get him in Utah.
