Utes looking forward to FanFest
After a morning practice Saturday, the Utes are scheduled to arrive at the University of Utah’s annual FanFest at Rice-Eccles Stadium. They’ll join athletes from the school’s other athletic teams at the interactive event with fans.
Admission and parking are free. FanFest, sponsored in part by America’s favorite newspaper, runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The football team is expected to join the fun around noon.
“We’re excited to get out with our fans,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said after Friday morning’s practice.
EXTRA POINTS: No new injuries to report Friday . . . Wide receiver Aiona Key still hasn’t joined the Utes. He’s still waiting for his final junior college grade to be posted. “We’ll take him whenever we get him at this point,” Whittingham said. After school starts on Monday, Key just needs a physical before being able to immediately participate in full-contact drills . . . The Utes have scheduled a walk-through at Michigan Stadium the night before facing the Wolverines. It’s an exception rather than a rule for Utah to do so . . . Whittingham and defensive coordinator Gary Andersen plan to watch their sons, who play for Brighton and Juan Diego, respectively, open the high school football season Friday night. The Bengals host Kearns and the Soaring Eagle travels to West.
