Drca also gone for the summer
In our blog earlier in the week about Ute players playing internationally this summer, we missed one. Point guard Luka Drca is also gone for the summer, playing for a national (not Olympic) team in Serbia. Coach Jim Boylen said it’s a junior team and that Drca will be back by Aug. 20 in time for the start of school.
In other Ute news, Tyler Kepkay has been impressive in the training camp for the Canadian Olympic team. On the official blog from training camp, Kepkay was called “the best passer for the second straight day” and “the most surprising player.” Kepkay is battling for the backup point guard spot on the team, which should be decided this week.
The other Ute who is away for the summer is forward Kim Tillie, who is playing for France’s Under-20 team.
The rest of the Ute team, including Australian Luke Nevill and the incoming freshmen, are in Salt Lake this summer working out and in some cases, attending classes.
