Added depth on the defensive line

Folau “Junior” Tuione, a 6-foot-3, 249-pound defensive end from El Camino College in California, confirmed that he has signed a financial aid agreement with the University of Utah. He plans to join the Utes this fall and compete for playing time right away.
Defensive coordinator Gary Andersen said Tuione is very athletic. The 21-year-old, he added, is mature as well — having served an LDS Church mission in Panama.
At a recent combine, Tuione ran the 40 in 4.63 and the shuttle in 4.46. His vertical leap was 32.4.
Tuione said BYU and Oregon State also made offers, but family ties and Utah’s sports medicine program were factors in his decision to play for the Utes.
A more detailed story will appear in Friday’s Deseret News.
