Utes pick up 5th early commitment

Utah football has picked up a fifth early commitment for 2009.
Jamal Smith, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver from Oxnard High School in California is the latest to join the mix. Smith, who is also one of his state’s top runners in the 200, made 31 catches for 594 yards as a junior.
He is expected to join Jordan High lineman Vyncent Jones, safety Jarrad Stewart (Pearland HS, Texas), running back Chris Brown (Newbury Park HS, Calif,) and wide receiver C.J. Porter (Concord HS, Calif.) in signing letters-of-intent with the Utes in February.
