Should Drca get more time than Kepkay?

With another win under their belts, their fourth in a row, the Utes can look forward to a big game in Provo Wednesday night against arch-rival BYU.
The Cougars own a 44-game home winning streak, which is a good omen for Utah. The last time BYU had a 44-game home winning streak, in 2003, the Utes broke it with a 79-75 victory at the Marriott Center.
One of the overlooked stats in Saturday’s win over San Diego State was turnovers.
The Utes and Aztecs ended up even in the turnover department with 12 apiece, but it was remarkable that the Utes only ended up with a dozen seeing as they had a half dozen in the first six minutes of the game alone.
Luka Drca had three of the turnovers and despite his propensity for the crazy mistakes like his horrible pass that was picked off with 2:20 left and the Utes up by four, I wonder how long before coach Jim Boylen will use Drca more than Tyler Kepkay at point guard on a consistent basis.
Saturday was just the fourth time this year that Drca has played more minutes than Kepkay (22 to 20). Drca replaced Kepkay with 13:41 left and the Utes down by three and Kepkay didn’t return until the final minute when the Utes were up six.
Drca finished with 7 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds, compared to Kepkay’s 4 points, 1 assist and 3 rebounds.
Afterwards, Boylen said, “Luka Drca is a big-time basketball player.”
Although he has more turnovers per minute than Kepkay, Drca has a much better assist-to-turnover ratio with 76 assists to 47 turnovers compared to Kepkay who has 54 assists and 54 turnovers. The best assist-to-turnover ratio on the team belongs to Shaun Green, who has 52 assists to just 22 turnovers.
