Utes staying positive
Despite losing three straight games, two in overtime and one in the final seconds, the Utah basketball team is staying upbeat.
The Utes have had a couple of spirited practices and coach Jim Boylen and his players are staying positive despite the recent disappontments. On Thursday, Boylen said he went over the last six minutes of each of the three losses earlier in the day and while admitting some mistakes by the players and himself, he also lamented the missed free throws and questionable calls that led to the losses.
“All I can say is, I’m not concerned. We’re getting better, we’re getting tougher, we’re competing in games,” Boylen said.
Shaun Green agreed, saying, “We’re disappointed we lost some close games, but we’re real positive. We’ve had opportunities in the last few games and next time we’re in those situations we can make those plays.”
Saturday at noon, the Utes will play TCU, the Utes will face a team that likes to press and push the tempo. The key for the Utes will be to stay patient and not get flustered by the Horned Frogs.
The Utes have a good opportunity to start a winning streak with three home games in the next 12 days and a very winnable road game at Colorado State on Feb. 1.
