Gonzaga could be annual game
The Utah basketball team has a big test Monday night against Gonzaga, which has been ranked most of the season.
It’s a fascinating game because the Utes are going against their former coach Ray Giacoletti. I had a chance to talk to Giacoletti a couple of days ago and he was very gracious in talking about his former school and players. He said he wishes them the best and is happy for their success.
I also talked to several players and they were complimentary of their old coach and said they were looking forward to seeing him Monday night. You can read more in depth about Giacoletti in Sunday’s paper.
Another person I talked to about Giacoletti was Ute coach Jim Boylen, who said Giacoletti and he have talked a couple of times and that Giacoletti was very “respectful.”
Boylen also revealed that the Utes and Bulldogs would meet in Salt Lake next New Year’s Eve at the Huntsman Center and that he’s hoping to make it an annual series.
